Products Description of Toluene CAS#108-88-3
Toluene, also known as Methylbenzene or Toluol, has the molecular formula C₇H₈ and falls into the category of monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. It appears as a transparent, free-flowing liquid with a distinctive aromatic odour. It is nearly insoluble in water yet infinitely miscible with ethanol, ether and most other organic solvents. Under normal ambient conditions, it exhibits favourable chemical stability and a moderate volatilization rate.
This highly flammable substance must be stored away from heat sources and open flames; It is widely utilised as a versatile industrial solvent and key synthetic building block for aromatic derivative production.

Product Application of Toluene CAS#108-88-3
Toluene functions as a valuable aromatic feedstock and high-efficiency solvent across diverse chemical sectors. It is a primary starting material for manufacturing TDI, benzoic acid, cresol, benzaldehyde and other fine chemical intermediates, supporting the production of polyurethane materials, pharmaceutical ingredients and dyestuffs.
It possesses excellent dissolving capacity for acrylic, alkyd, epoxy and polyurethane resins, so it is extensively adopted in solvent-based paints, gravure printing inks, adhesives and coating thinners. Through disproportionation reaction, it can be converted into benzene and xylene to supplement the supply of core aromatic raw materials. It can also be blended into gasoline to raise octane ratings. In addition, it is used in laboratory chemical analysis and organic synthesis reactions.
